Erection… ain’t what it used to be? - Causes of ED [Part 1 of 5]

Let’s be clear…what is ED?

ED is defined as the persistent inability to achieve or maintain penile erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance. (Hopinsmedicine.org).


One study found that 52% of men ages 40 to 70 experience ED.

There are many reasons why one might experience Erectile dysfunction.

The most common are:

  • Prostate problems – Enlargement
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Hypogonadism
  • High blood pressure
  • Vascular disease
  • High blood cholesterol
  • Drug use
  • Peyronie’s disease
  • Inflammation of the penis (Priapism)
  • Depression, Anxiety and Stress
  • Alcohol use
  • Smoking – increased risk of vascular disease or hypertension
  • Other psychological issues
  • Systemic inflammation

The problem of Erectile Dysfunction stems from poor or restricted blood flow caused by one or more of the items listed above, which stems from poor Nitric Oxide production and Low Testosterone. Living a lifestyle of low exercise and high consumption of processed foods are sure to contribute to poor sexual health. To regain control of your E-Function it takes effort.
